Lanzini and Masuaku likely to start v Burnley

|

West Ham United are expected to make a couple of changes for their game against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, according to Claret and Hugh.

The club source claim that it is likely that Manuel Lanzini will come back into the side to offer more energy, and the £70,000-a-week playmaker [Spotrac] could replace Mark Noble, who looks in need of a rest after being substituted at half-time against Newcastle United.

Claret and Hugh also report that Arthur Masuaku could potentially slot into the left-hand side of midfield, a move which would see Felipe Anderson potentially move in-behind Sebastien Haller.

OPINION

There is no hiding the fact that the Hammers are desperate for a win in the Premier League right now. That will mean that Manuel Pellegrini needs to make changes, there are no excuses after his failed experiment against Newcastle. It is a surprise that Pablo Zabaleta isn’t mentioned in this after the Argentine was simply embarrassed by Allan Saint-Maximin all afternoon at the London Stadium, and Ryan Fredericks is surely certain to start at Turf Moor. Haller is desperate for support in the final third, with Anderson struggling out wide, so a move to the hole behind the Frenchman would make perfect sense so he can get on the ball. Either way, Pellegrini can not afford to not switch things around in Lancashire, and this will be the game to turn their fortunes around after the home side have been battered in their previous two fixtures. A defeat would put the Chilean on thin ice, and he must show that he is trying to change things around instead of putting the same team out and hoping for the best.
