Juventus are considering whether to revive their hunt to sign West Ham midfieler Manuel Lanzini, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet claims that Lanzini and Felipe Anderson, both 26, could “command significant transfer fees” next summer while the Hammers are also anticipating interest in centre-back Issa Diop.
It is understood that Juventus eyed up Lanzini in the summer transfer window and are now mulling over the idea of returning for the Argentina international.
Based on Lanzini’s current form, there might be a lot of West Ham fans out there who would not mind seeing the back of the 26-year-old playmaker – especially if he attracts a big bid from Juventus. Lanzini has been dropped to the bench by Manuel Pellegrini in West Ham’s last couple of Premier League fixtures as his form has taken a nosedive since he signed a new contract at the end of August. It’s not as if the Hammers’ fortunes have improved while Lanzini has been on the bench and there’s a chance he could return to the starting line-up soon. Lanzini did miss a lot of last season due to injury and people are still going on about how that could be affecting his performances this season. It shouldn’t be anymore. It’s November now and Lanzini has been back in action for the Hammers since February. It’s time to stop making excuses for the South American midfielder and start to demand a lot more from him.
