Gold wishes Trott Happy Birthday

|

West Ham co-owner David Gold has taken to Twitter to send a message to loaned-out goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

The stopper celebrated his 21st birthday on Thursday, and is currently spending the season with AFC Wimbledon.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Gold said: “Nathan Trott will celebrate his 21st birthday today while currently on loan to AFC Wimbledon.

“Happy Birthday Nathan, have a great day.”

OPINION

There must have been times over the past few weeks when the Hammers wished they had Trott at their disposal. With Lukasz Fabianski sidelined, deputy stopper Roberto has hardly covered himself in glory, making a couple of absolute howlers against Newcastle United and Burnley. Trott may be young, but he is winning over a lot of people at Wimbledon, and has averaged 4.4 saves per game in League One, as well as a Whoscored rating of 6.88. Obviously, a lot of supporters would feel less than confident about calling on a keeper so young, but the fact is, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and no matter how he played, he couldn’t have been much less reliable than Roberto. That being said, a season out on loan could be the making of him, and when he returns, he could well be in with a shout of a regular Premier League match day spot.
