Wilshere out of Tottenham clash

West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of the Hammers’ crucial London derby with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the 34-cap England international is out of the Spurs clash after complaining about an issue with his stomach.

That represents a big blow for manager Manuel Pellegrini, with captain Mark Noble already touch and go for Saturday’s game after being injured against Burnley last time out.

The 27-year-old had trained all week up until picking up this problem in the back-end of the week.

This is a major problem for Pellegrini heading into Saturday’s game. Noble’s availability is up in the air after the knock he suffered against Sean Dyche’s side, but you wonder whether he will now be rushed back by Pellegrini whereas he would’ve only been on the substitute’s bench if Wilshere was fully fit. However, the Chilean should have learned by now that he simply cannot rely on the erstwhile former Arsenal man. Fitness has long been an issue for the Englishman, and it appears that injuries have reared their ugly head yet again. It’s easy to be skeptical when you read that he’s been ruled out due to a problem with his stomach. On the face of it, that sounds very wishy-washy. However, we don’t know the full extent of the issue so we can’t really comment on that. It will be interesting to see if Pellegrini does go with Noble alongside Declan Rice, or whether he pushes attacking midfielder Robert Snodgrass back into a more central role.
