West Ham United have taken former Liverpool defender Mich’el Parker on trial, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable club source claimed that Parker is hopeful of earning a full-time contract at the London Stadium after being released by both the Premier League table-toppers and Arsenal in his career.
ExWHUemployee revealed on Pheonix FM on Wednesday, as shared by Claret and Hugh, that after being released by Millwall last season, it is doubtful that the Hammers will offer the defender a full-time contract.
The 21-year-old has struggled for consistent game time in his career in the youth ranks, featuring only once in the Premier League 2.
OPINION
Given the strength of West Ham’s under-23s this season, it is no easy task to earn a contract to feature in their squad. The young Hammers are going strong at the top of their table, and Parker would have to do something special to replace the likes of summer signing Goncalo Cardoso. Given the fact that ExWHUemployee has already cast doubt over a contract being offered, it looks like the 21-year-old will most likely miss out on securing a move to East London. After only lasting one season with Millwall, it wouldn’t make sense for West Ham to make a move for the enforcer, who couldn’t even break his way into a bottom-half Championship side. The Hammers need to be smart and not bring in players for the sake of it, with their academy doing more than fine at this moment in time, it appears like Parker will need need to look around even more after his trial at the London Stadium.
