West Ham United could be forced to pay certain players for doing nothing after the January transfer window, according to Claret and Hugh.
The club source claim on their website that the Hammers may need to drop players from their squad in order to make room for any foreign arrivals in the winter market.
Claret and Hugh report that with only one spot available in their Premier League squad, they may be put in a position where they are paying players who would not be available for selection in the top-flight.
It is suggested that West Ham are already putting preparations in place just in case the worst happens in the transfer market.
OPINION
Well as it stands, there is no way that West Ham can go through the January market without adding players to strengthen their squad. The Hammers haven’t won a single game since September, and have plummeted from European qualifications spots to just above the relegation zone, and that is unacceptable. Manuel Pellegrini will know that the transfer window may be his last chance to turn this season around in East London, and if he doesn’t use it effectively he could find himself on the firing line more than he already is. West Ham are also suffering from injuries in midfield, with Mark Noble, Jack Wilshere, and Manuel Lanzini all currently with problems, they could be forced to bring in a couple of fresh faces to cover those losses. That would mean that a couple of players will be on the firing line, and with the Hammers prepared there could be a number of squad members that will be disappointed.
