Sebastien Haller is “struggling” for West Ham at the moment, according to Clinton Morrison.
The Frenchman failed to find the back of the net for the third match in a row in the Hammers’ 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday, and prior to that game, Morrison claimed that he needed to be justifying his sizeable price tag more than he is.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday (Sky Sports News, Saturday November 3rd, 12pm), he said: “He’s struggled, he hasn’t scored in his last few games, so he’s struggling massively.
“You pay a lot of money, you want to see more.”
OPINION
It’s probably fair to say that Haller’s season has tailed off a little in recent weeks. After three goals in his opening three matches in the Premier League, he has found the back of the net just once in the seven games since, and that is becoming a real problem for the Hammers. His downturn in form has coincided with a slump for his side, who are now winless in six in all competitions, and sit closer to the relegation zone than they do to the top four. There’s no doubting Haller’s quality, of course, and even against the Magpies he managed four shots and a Whoscored rating of 7.08 in a largely uninspired Irons display. But something isn’t clicking at the moment, and until it does, then it’s hard to see things getting better for the Hammers.
