West Ham United youngster Grady Diangana has no desire to return to the club from loan team West Bromwich Albion anytime soon, according to Football Insider.
The outlet claims that the 21-year-old doesn’t want to be recalled by the Hammers in January, amid talk that manager Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to allow him to stay at The Hawthorns may have been altered by Manuel Lanzini’s recent injury.
The east London outfit are able to bring Diangana back early in January if they wish to do so, but the Englishman has his heart set on seeing out the campaign with the Baggies.
However, he is ready to then return to the London Stadium next summer and make a sustained push for regular first team football with Pellegrini’s team next season.
OPINION
Hopefully this brings an end to the incessant will he-won’t he in regards to Diangana potentially returning to West Ham in January. Obviously the Hammers aren’t doing well at the moment, and their attacking midfielders are seriously underperforming, but you have to protect the long-term future of the young player, as well. It would obviously serve Diangana better to see out the campaign with West Brom than it would to come back to a sinking West Ham ship and play the odd game here and there down the second half of the season. The statistics show that the young winger is absolutely flourishing in the Midlands, and so you don’t want to disrupt the flow he has found over there. As per WhoScored.com, Diangana has scored four times and bagged four assists for the Baggies, while he is averaging 1.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game. That’s stunning form, and it’s surely best for West Ham to leave him where he is and let him continue his development in the Championship.
