West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio is set to return for the match against Tottenham, according to Football Insider.
The reputable football outlet claimed on their website that Manuel Pellegrini is considering a recall for the long-term absentee for the clash against their London rivals after the international break.
Football Insider reports that Antonio is pencilled in to feature against Spurs should he get through the break with no problems after returning to training after his hamstring injury.
The 29-year-old has been missing since the Hammers’ 3-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road back in August, with Pellegrini’s side now dropping to 16th in the Premier League.
OPINION
Any news is good news for West Ham right now, with things not really in a position to get any worst for the Hammers. Pellegrini will be left scratching his head with what to do in East London after Saturday’s defeat against Burnley made it almost more than two months since their last victory in the Premier League. Spurs aren’t doing much better in the league right now, so this could be the perfect game for the Irons to get back on track. A London derby will mean that emotions will be running high and literally anything could happen – the perfect game for Antonio to return for and try and make an impact. The 29-year-old has never shied away from a challenge, and his determination in the final third could add much-needed creativity when going forward in a side that has looked clueless since he was ruled out. Should the versatile star get through the break with no problems, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to unleash him from the beginning and hope that he can make an impact on the Hammers moving forward.
