The outlet claims that the Hammers are vying with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the race to secure the signature of the 17-year-old Angolan winger.
Luvumbo will join up with his country’s Under-17s side for the youth World Cup in Brazil in late October, despite having already received a call-up to the Angolan senior side.
The C.D. Primeiro de Agosto starlet has caught the attention of the Irons, although United’s presence as an established top six side may cause them problems.
The fact that Luvumbo has already picked up two caps for the Angolan senior side at just 17 years of age tells you everything you need to know about what an exciting talent he is. Yes, he’s not exactly playing for a footballing powerhouse, but to make your international debut before you’ve even turned 18 is still extremely rare. Luvumbo is clearly a very promising player, and so you’d expect that he will make the move across to Europe at some point. There will be plenty of scouts at the U17s World Cup later this month, including West Ham representatives, so perhaps other teams aside from the Hammers and the Red Devils will soon be taking an interest in the teenager. However, Manuel Pellegrini, Mario Husillos and co. need to grab the initiative and state their case to the youngster. They can certainly offer him a more realistic pathway to the first team than United, and they should play on that fact to secure his signature.
