West Brom fans have joked all season about Grady Diangana’s form while on loan at The Hawthorns. They are so desperate to not see West Ham recall the 21-year-old from his season-long loan in January that some supporters have resorted to lying, tongue-in-cheek, about the attacker’s performances. However there were no such jokes on Tuesday night as Diangana endured a poor display in West Brom’s 2-2 draw against Barnsley at The Hawthorns. Diangana offered very little in the attack. According to stats by WhoScored, he still completed three dribbles – a figure which no other player bested – and made one key pass. However the quality just was not there from Diangana. It did not help that he had little support from left-back Nathan Ferguson in the first half and Slaven Bilic’s decision to replace Ferguson with Conor Townsend at half-time did help a bit. Diangana looked better and more dangerous after that change but still, he was replaced by Bilic with Albion 2-0 down. It is no shock that West Brom scored two goals to grab a point after Diangana had exited the match.
