OPINION
West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has endured a poor start to the season, to say the least.
The 32-year-old has only managed to start a single game in the Premier League in the 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion, and his other outings have been in the Carabao Cup.
Snodgrass failed to impress in games against Newport County and Oxford United, as the Hammers crashed out embarrassingly to the League One side in the third round.
Manuel Pellegrini has taken the decision to place Snodgrass on the bench for the last three games, and the winger has failed to make any impact going forward this season.
The West Ham attacker could easily return to his former side Leeds United in the January transfer window [Claret and Hugh].
The club source claim on their website that it would be no surprise should the 32-year-old move back to Elland Road due to the admiration from the club’s fans of their former player.
Claret and Hugh report that the recently retired Scotland international could well be in the mix to leave the London Stadium should Pellegrini decide to reshuffle his side in the transfer window.
Given the fact that the Chilean could switch his side around by sanctioning some exits, players like Snodgrass will be at the front of the pack given their lack of form.
There is no arguing how loved the 32-year-old is at Leeds, with the Yorkshire club being the side that gave him his first opportunity in English football.
Snodgrass hasn’t been good enough in the final third and has only averaged 0.5 shots and key passes per game according to WhoScored – numbers that need to be much higher from an attacking player in a side looking for European qualification.
It would definitely be no surprise to see Snodgrass seal an exit from the London Stadium, with Leeds surely a likely destination if Pellegrini decides to sanction a move.
