Schira: West Ham not in for Giroud or Suso

|

West Ham United are not interested in Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

The Gazzetta Dello Sport writer claims that the Frenchman is not an option for the Hammers, with Manuel Pellegrini having his eyes set of other areas of his squad to strengthen.

Schira reported on Thursday on his personal Twitter account that the Chilean is instead targeting a right-back to add to the Hammers’ squad midway through the season.

This comes after it was reported by Claret and Hugh that West Ham could be tempted to reignite their interest in the £110,000-a-week forward [Spotrac].

OPINION

It would be a smart decision for West Ham to not target Giroud in the January market, with the French international not guaranteed a starting place despite most likely asking for big wages at the London Stadium. Sebastien Haller has come in and hit the ground running already being involved in five goals, and Pellegrini has Albian Ajeti waiting on the bench surely determined and fired up, ready to make an impact for his new side at some point this season. The veteran forward has proved before that he doesn’t exactly like sitting on the sidelines and waiting around to get game time by leaving Arsenal a couple of years ago. Pellegrini needs to be smart in his recruitment, and target much younger and more determined players who want nothing more than to star in the Premier League, and he is spot on to not go chasing the Chelsea man, who is the complete opposite of that.
