West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini will likely have been ‘bellowing’ his big team mantra at his players this week, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the Chilean will see Saturday’s trip to Everton as a big opportunity for his side to get back to winning ways after securing a single point over their past two games.

And so the manager will have made sure he was getting into his players in training after they returned from the international break.

The report states that: “Every team is allowed one average to poor performance but I have no doubt Manuel Pellegrini has been bellowing the big team mantra at the lads over the last week or two.”

OPINION

We’ve heard for a long time now that Pellegrini has been trying to instil a big team mentality at West Ham. He wants the Hammers squad to think of themselves as top players playing for a big club. They have the stadium, the financial resources and, going by his track record, the manager of a big side. So it’s not unreasonable of Pellegrini to be trying to establish a winning mentality amongst a squad that, player by player, is one of the strongest in the Premier League. He will have been telling his players that this is the sort of game that a big team wins. Everton have some talented players, but they are currently 18th in the Premier League and woefully out of form. With that said, Pellegrini will be keen for his team to go out there and play like a team which is currently 10 places above the Toffees in the league table.
