West Ham United have received no enquiries into the services of star midfielder Declan Rice over the international break, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the club haven’t heard from Manchester United or anyone else in regards to the England international.

Speculation surrounding the 20-year-old’s future has been rife as ever, but Claret & Hugh’s report states that the club have placed no valuation on him.

That’s because he is tied down to a long-term contract and isn’t someone the club are looking to part with.

OPINION

This is the news that every West Ham fan will have wanted to see. Rice is obviously the key man in east London, a top class midfielder who is only going to get better over the years. However, the reality is that unless you are one of the really top, top clubs, it’s always going to be difficult for you to keep your best players. That’s why it’s so positive that there have been no enquiries into Rice’s services. Plus, the club aren’t even bothering to put a valuation on him. That tells you that the east London outfit are set to give any interest in the young man short shrift. That’s the right thing to do, because it would be near impossible for the Hammers to replace a player of his quality. The statistics show that the youngster is an elite defensive midfielder. As per WhoScored.com, he is averaging 3.8 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game in the Premier League this season, while he averages 46.6 passes per outing with a terrific success rate of 89.5%. No, you can’t afford to lose a player of his quality.
