Sebastien Haller has been “top drawer” for West Ham so far this season, according to Matt Murray.

The 25-year-old Frenchman was unable to get on the scoresheet in the 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday lunchtime, but the has hit four goals in the Premier League so far, and Murray has been quick to sing his praises.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (Saturday October 19th, 12.20), he said: “Haller for West Ham, he’s been top drawer.”

OPINION

It’s hard to argue with Murray on this one. Not only has Haller’s impact been great, it has also been immediate. Four goals in his first seven Premier League games is a really respectable return, and he fully deserves all the plaudits he is getting for hitting the ground run-in at such a pace. His Whoscored rating of 7.59 makes him the eighth highest rated player in the Premier League at the moment, and his form has been integral to the bright start that West Ham have made this term. His average of 7.1 aerial duels won per game is top class, and his physical presence and intelligence in his movement allow him to really bring those around him into the game with greater ease. He is flying, but he is also allowing those around him to fly too, and West Ham have been crying out for a player like him for years now.
