Holland to learn fate for Sheffield United clash

|

The odds are against Nathan Holland making the West Ham squad for the Sheffield United clash on Saturday, according to Claret and Hugh.

The club source claim that Holland will learn whether or not he is in the Hammers’ set up for the Premier League clash on Friday evening.

Claret and Hugh report that the young winger will be involved with the under-23s against Norwich City this weekend if he misses out on the squad.

It is suggested that with the poor run of form the Hammers are currently in, it would be unfair to launch the 21-year-old into the first-team picture, despite him training with the senior side this week.

OPINION

It seems strange that the reason behind Holland potentially missing out on the first-team squad is because they are in a bad run of form. Surely it would be the perfect time for Manuel Pellegrini to throw the 21-year-old into the mix and give him the responsibility of potentially changing his sides’ fortunes going forward in the Premier League. The starlet winger was one of the bright lights in the Hammers’ team when they were dismantled by Oxford in the Carabao Cup, and West Ham must not be afraid to unleash the shackles because of one result in the past. Holland couldn’t really do anymore to catch the attention of the senior side, as he continues to get better in the under-23s, scoring twice again on Monday as the young Hammers eased to a 4-0 victory against Stoke City to keep their place at the top of the table. Holland will continue to plug away as he tries to convince Pellegrini to give him the chance, and Saturday could be a real missed opportunity to give him the break he so thoroughly deserves at this moment.
