Flaherty features for Newcastle

West Ham United will always have their eye on the brightest young talent to potentially bring in at any point of the season.

The young Hammers have started the season brilliantly and currently sit at the top of the table after failing to lose a single game so far.

Players such as Nathan Holland, Anthony Scully, and Dan Kemp have been given the freedom in the final third and they have thrived under the management of Dimitri Halajko.

Despite that, West Ham were still in the market to try and improve their young squad, with Football Insider reporting that they had handed a trial to Arsenal starlet Stan Flaherty.

The reputable football outlet claimed that the Hammers were keen on handing the 17-year-old a deal at the London Stadium, with the player himself also revealing that he wanted to sign on the dotted line in East London.

Flaherty scored in his first game for the club in his trial but it appears as if he didn’t do enough eventually to try and earn himself a move to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Newcastle United’s under-18s recently came up against Liverpool in a game that they lost 3-0 at the Kirkby Academy, something which doesn’t appear to matter.

Looking into the match report on the official Liverpool website, it shows that Flaherty lined up for the Magpies despite being on trial in London at the beginning of the season.

Flaherty struck the crossbar for Newcastle in that game and looked like his side’s biggest threat on a disappointing afternoon for the youngster.

Given that the Arsenal starlet was lining up for the Hammers’ Premier League rivals, it appears as if West Ham have made their decision on whether or not they are going to offer him a deal, and that looks like he is set to miss out on a move.
