West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere could be in line for a start Sheffield United this coming, according to Claret & Hugh.

The 27-year-old midfielder has made just two starts in the Premier League so far this term, but could be drafted in to replace Manuel Lanzini, who has struggled with his form recently.

The report also suggests that manager Manuel Pellegrini “must be tearing his hair out privately” after a dire performance from his side in a 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.

OPINION

Bringing in Wilshere to replace an out of form Lanzini is like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Neither have been particularly great so far this season, but given a choice between the two, you’d probably still be tempted to go with the Argentine. So far this season he has more assists, shots, key passes, successful dribbles, and a higher Whoscored rating than Wilshere. You would fancy him to come good at some point, but if he is to do so then he is going to need an extended run in the side to rediscover his usual rhythm, and that isn’t going to happen if Pellegrini wields the axe every time he has an underwhelming performance. As for Wilshere, he is quickly running out of time to prove himself in the claret and blue.
