West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna has picked out the Everton dangermen he expects to help turn their season around.
The Hammers’ enforcer admitted that he believes the Toffees will want to compete in similar areas as to what his side are in this season in the Premier League, with players such as Gylfi Sigurdsson could turn it around.
Ogbonna also selected the likes of Alex Iwobi, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and 19-year-old Moise Kean as players they have to watch out for when they meet on Saturday.
“They have good attacking players like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alex Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and a young player I heard a lot about when I was in Juventus and he was in the Academy, Moise Kean, who has a lot of skills and is very strong,” he told the club’s official website.
“But we just have to focus on our jobs and getting the three points.”
OPINION
West Ham will be fully determined to bounce back from the disappointment that was the defeat against Crystal Palace before the international break. The Hammers couldn’t take advantage in that game and need to start afresh against Everton at Goodison Park – a happy hunting ground for them in the past. They can’t go into the game thinking they will have it all their own way though, and Ogbonna is clearly prepared for what he is set to come up against in Merseyside. No matter what position Everton are currently in, they still have plenty of dangerous players and Ogbonna will need to be at the top of his game alongside Issa Diop. The 31-year-old is currently averaging 1.7 tackles per game as well as an impressive 5.4 clearances according to WhoScored, and Manuel Pellegrini will be relying on his two central defenders to be as strong as ever to secure the three points and get back on track.
