West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski’s chances of having surgery are currently rated at 80/20, according to Claret & Hugh.
The newspaper claims that the Poland international is looking likely to have to go under the knife, with the club awaiting potential dates from the surgeon involved.
The veteran shot-stopper suffered a torn thigh muscle against Bournemouth last weekend and is expected to miss around two months of action.
Meanwhile, Claret & Hugh’s report dismissed claims that Hammers left back Arthur Masuaku has suffered a fresh injury, although he remains out at the moment with an existing problem.
OPINION
It certainly seems to be trending towards Fabianski having surgery on the thigh injury he picked up at the Vitality Stadium. Whether he does or he doesn’t it appears certain that he’s going to be out for a couple of months, so you might as well provide him with the best chance of making a complete recovery. If that’s surgery, which it looks like it is, then so be it. He’s going to miss time either way, so the club need to ensure that they are giving him every opportunity to come back in good time but also to come back at 100% full fitness. As for Masuaku, it’s extremely encouraging to hear that he hasn’t suffered a fresh problem. The DR Congo international was one of the early stars of the season for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but was sent off against Aston Villa last month and is now out on the treatment table. The good thing is, though, that no further hiccups have occurred and so he should make a full recovery soon.
