West Ham United’s out-on-loan winger Grady Diangana is more likely to return to the club in January than fellow Hammers loanee Josh Cullen, according to Claret & Hugh.
The reliable Irons news source claims that the 21-year-old is the likeliest to return to the London Stadium prematurely, after excelling for Championship high-flyers West Bromwich Albion.
The report claims that the east London outfit have a two-week period at the start of the winter transfer window during which they can recall either of these two men.
However, due to the indifferent form of attacking midfielders like Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Felipe Anderson, Diangana’s return is a more realistic proposition than the Charlton Athletic star’s at the moment.
OPINION
It would be unfortunate to have to recall either of these two youngsters, given how well they have been doing out on loan. You’d think that a return to the London Stadium would only disrupt the progress they have made in the second tier, where regular football seems to be doing them a lot of good. However, you can see why West Ham might want to bring Diangana back early, because they haven’t been getting the necessary performances from the attacking midfielders at the club this season. Diangana, though, has scored four times and bagged three assists for the Baggies, while averaging 1.7 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per game this campaign [Source: WhoScored.com]. You wouldn’t really want to stymie his progress by bringing him back early, but if Messrs Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson continue to underperform then the Hammers might have to give former manager Slaven Bilic a call.
