Bent: Haller needs better service

Darren Bent has admitted that West Ham striker Sebastien Haller is facing a “weird” situation in east London.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has been a big hit since arriving in England, and has hit four goals in his first nine Premier League appearances.

But Sky Sports pundit Bent believes that he could do even better if he was given the right service.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Yeah it’s a weird one.

“We’ve seen him get chances and bury them, but it’s difficult for him to score if he is getting no service, but why is he getting no service?

“West Ham have some talented players like Lanzini, Anderson, Snodgrass and Yarmolenko who can create chances so why aren’t they?”

Make no mistake, Haller has been superb since he arrived in England. The Frenchman has not only been hitting the back of the net, but he has also averaged 1.1 key passes and 7.1 aerial duels won per game, as per Whoscored, as well as a match rating of 7.37. That score puts him in the top 20 players in the entire division moment, and on par with the likes of Jamie Vardy, just behind Mo Salah. In that respect, you cannot question his impact, but Bent is right to suggest that he could use some more help from his teammates. With the right service, Haller could be hitting 20+ goals a season, but with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini struggling for form, he has had to do a lot of the legwork himself. Hopefully that can change, because when everything clicks in east London, the Hammers will have a fearsome side.
