Antonio could be back before end of month

Michail Antonio could be be back in action for West Ham in time to face Tottenham at the end of November, according to Manuel Pellegrini.

The £70,000-a-week ace [Spotrac] is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, and was not expected to be fit again until the new year, as per Sky Sports.

But his manager is now taking a more optimistic stance on the situation.

As quoted by Claret & Hugh, he said: “I think Antonio will be ready after the international break.

The Hammers’ first game back after the break is against Spurs on November 23rd.

This would be a fantastic update for the Hammers if it is true. Initially it looked as if Antonio was going to be ruled out for ages, and his absence, coupled with some poor form and a woefully understaffed forward line, could have been acutely felt by Pellegrini’s men. Instead, having him back over a month ahead of schedule would be a massive boost. When he is firing, Antonio can be a key player for the Hammers. So far this season he has averaged 3.6 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League, as well as 2.1 successful dribbles, 3.6 aerial duels won, and 1.4 key passes made, as per Whoscored. In short, he is a well-rounded and dangerous attacking talent, and he could be exactly what West Ham need to build on a strong start to the season that has just begun to waver in recent weeks.
