West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has urged Manchester United to sell disgruntled midfielder Paul Pogba just like the Hammers did Marko Arnautovic.
The Austrian international was given the boot by the Irons this summer having campaigned for an exit for six months since being denied a January move to China.
Now, Brady has called on the Red Devils to do the same: “Reports that Paul Pogba wants £600,000 A WEEK to remain with Manchester United beyond his current contract made me wonder what kind of reality we are straying into,” she wrote in her column for The Sun.
“United already have form for bludgeoning players with pound notes and might see [Mino] Raiola’s demands as an opening ploy in an auction for the France international’s future after 2021. Pogba might yet become as good as he thinks he is. But not, I suspect, with United.
“My advice is simple. Tell him to clear off as West Ham did with Marco Arnautovic. In the end he was just a greedy pest.”
Brady is clearly so sick of Arnautovic that she can’t even spell his first name correctly. Beyond that, though, there will be plenty of Man United fans who agree with Brady that the Red Devils need to simply move on from Pogba now. It’s been clear for a while that the World Cup winner doesn’t want to be at the club, which was also the case with Arnautovic. The Austrian saw the dollar signs available to him over in China and did everything possible to get himself a move over there. No matter that he proceeded to sign a new contract with the Hammers after failing to get his move in January. He simply kicked up a fuss again and got his precious move away in the summer. With that said, it’s difficult to argue with Brady’s assertion that he was simply a greedy pest. If Pogba and his team are really wanting £600,000-per-week then, yes, it’s better for United to sell him now for big money rather than pay him that ridiculous amount of money.
