Michail Antonio might not play for West Ham for five months after suffering a serious hamstring injury in the Carabao Cup win against Newport County last week. According to reliable Irons news website Claret & Hugh, the 29-year-old is set to have an operation on a grade three hamstring and might not return to action until February 8 when West Ham play against Manchester City at the Etihad. It is a major blow for Manuel Pellegrini to lose one of his key players for such an extended period time, especially as Antonio had played well in his opening few appearances of the new campaign. It is no surprise to see so many West Ham fans on Twitter who are absolutely gutted by the news. Antonio has suffered multiple hamstring injuries during his time at the London club and that has a couple of supporters concerned about his long-term future. The £70,000-a-week [Spotrac] attacker has come back and played well after suffering similar injuries in his career so let’s not give up on him just yet.

Really is a shame he really was getting back to his best.

Not surprised…. imagine the strain and tension they are under with his build. A real threat when fully fit but I fear that maybe the last we have seen of him. Never a MP favourite and not sure he will play much again this season.

Feel so bad, always works his hardest to get back to the top of his game and then gets put back down again because of an injury

I did say last week that I doubt we'd see him (Yet again!) before January to March. I hate it when you're right but this is The West Ham Way after all and to be honest, sick of it… https://t.co/30GtHuxmiZ
