West Ham fans rave about Fabianski

|

OPINION

When Lukasz Fabianski signed for West Ham last summer, nobody could have predicted how good he would go on to be for the Hammers. The big Pole has been immense for the Hammers, and was duly rewarded with a Hammer of the Year award last season. And judging by his performance  in the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Monday evening, he has kept that fine form going into this season too. A couple of superb first half saves, including one that took a wicked deflection on its way towards his bottom right hand corner, ensured that the Irons were singing his praises once again. The veteran stopper had kept 59 clean sheets in 224 Premier League appearances prior to Monday evening, as per the league themselves, and he looked intent on adding to that number from the outset. His shot-stopping prowess is one thing, but the manner in which he commands his area is immense too, and having that kind of presence behind a back four must make a world of difference for defenders. The only regret with Fabianski will be that the Hammers didn’t sign him earlier, because honestly, he has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving in east London.
