The next game couldn’t come quick enough for West Ham United after their embarrassing defeat to Oxford United on Wednesday.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the third round after losing 4-0 at the Kassam Stadium, despite naming a number of senior players.
Nathan Holland made his debut and impressed for the Hammers, and was surrounded by players such as Jack Wilshere and Robert Snodgrass – who have bucketloads of Premier League experience behind them.
The experienced duo both failed to make an impact in the game and were both substituted in the second half after disappointing in the first hour.
West Ham travel to Bournemouth next, looking to leave the cup performance in the past as they look to extend their Premier League unbeaten run to six after keeping three consecutive clean sheets.
A report from Claret and Hugh has claimed that West Ham duo Snodgrass and Wilshere are in danger of missing out completely against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium after failing to impress.
The club source reported that Albian Ajeti is set to keep his place despite also struggling against Oxford, due to the fact that the Hammers have little options in the final is set to see him named on the bench.
Snodgrass had the second-worst pass completion rate on the pitch against Oxford, only succeeding with 61% of his passes according to WhoScored, nowhere near good enough.
Wilshere, on the other hand, has struggled in the heart of midfield when deputising for the likes of Mark Noble and Declan Rice, as he can’t offer the same defensive mentality as the Hammers’ duo.
The England international only managed to make one tackle in the game, which looks even worse when you compare him to the more attacking Pablo Fornals, who completed three challenges [WhoScored].
It would come as no surprise to see the likes of Wilshere and Snodgrass dropped for the clash with Bournemouth, and Pellegrini could use this opportunity to teach them a lesson by not selecting them.
