Alan Shearer has named West Ham duo Lukasz Fabianski and Aaron Cresswell in his Premier League Team of the Week following the Hammers’ 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Irons took the lead through an Andriy Yarmolenko strike before Cresswell sealed all three points with a sublime free-kick, while Fabianski registered his third successive clean sheet in the Premier League.

Shearer shared his team of the week via the Premier League’s official Twitter account.

OPINION

Sunday’s display from the Hammers was excellent, and Cresswell and Fabianski both fully deserve their place in Shearer’s team of the week. The defender in particular deserves credit for the manner in which he bounced back from his spell out of the side. Having not played since the disastrous opening day defeat from Manchester City, you would have forgiven Cresswell for being rusty or out of touch, but instead he put in a fine display that was capped off with wonderful goal. The question now is whether or not Pellegrini will continue to show faith in him from this point onwards. You could probably argue that he shouldn’t. Cresswell was great against United, but Arthur Masuaku, who he replaced, was serving a harsh suspension, and has registered an impressive Whoscored rating of 7.31 so far this term. Does he deserve to be punished for missing one game? Probably not.
