The Hammers’ forward, currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers was left drooling over Lanzini, and claimed the 26-year-old has done things he’s never seen before on the training pitch.
Lanzini was recently rewarded for his successful pre-season for West Ham, being handed a four-year deal at the London Stadium, being ever-present under Manuel Pellegrini in the opening month.
“In training, because I haven’t played many games for West Ham, being around this player all the time – he’s brilliant, he’s amazing,” he said.
“And I think I’ve never seen a player like him, Manuel Lanzini at West Ham. The things he can do with a football and how sharp he is and everything like that, it’s incredible. And just to watch him in training is even better.”
Lanzini is fully deserving of all the praise he receives, especially after his start to the season. Playing every minute so far, the Argentinian has been one of the standout performers at the London Stadium. In terms of going forward, the 26-year-old has impressed in behind the striker, averaging 3.5 key passes per game according to WhoScored – the most in the entire squad, and a stat that would delight any forward playing alongside him. Lanzini has also completed an average of 3.3 dribbles in each outing, something that only Felipe Anderson has bettered so far. To get praise off your fellow professionals is one of the highest accolades a player can receive, and Lanzini is proving that he is more than worthy of it after his past couple of months. With one assist to his name already, the playmaker will be looking to continue that form, something that should be easy if he carries on in the same way he has started the campaign.
