Holland likely to feature against Oxford

|

West Ham United winger Nathan Holland has been included in the squad for the Carabao Cup third-round clash against Oxford United on Wednesday evening, according to Claret and Hugh.

The club source claim on their website that Jack Wilshere, Issa Diop, Sebastien Haller, Pablo Fornals and Aaron Cresswell are a number of the names expected to make the short trip.

Claret and Hugh report that the 21-year-old is likely to feature at the Kassam Stadium after impressing for the Hammers’ under-23s side at the beginning of the season.

Holland played a major part in the academies recent 4-3 victory over Middlesbrough, scoring one and assisting a couple of the goals to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

OPINION

This is exactly the reward Holland deserves for his amazing form at the beginning of the season. The Claret and Hugh report claims the exciting winger is seen as one of the Hammers’ brightest talents at the club, and it would be hard to argue against that given his level of performances in the past couple of months. Holland has surely been on the verge of breaking into the first-team for many months, with West Ham fans calling for Manuel Pellegrini to promote him into his plans in the coming weeks after his breakout performances. Holland has already scored twice and added three assists in the Premier League 2, as well as scoring against Valencia, and shouldn’t be fazed by the prospect of slotting into the senior side at all. With players such as Fornals expected to travel, it would be no surprise to see Holland on the bench and then introduced later in the game when the Hammers may have already secured a lead.
