Ian Wright has sent a message to West Ham midfielder Declan Rice after his performance in the 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
The Hammers took a famous three points against the Reds thanks to goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell, with Rice playing all 90 minutes of the clash.
And Wright was quick to praise the youngster for his efforts.
Commenting on a post to Rice’s personal Instagram account, he said: “Big man things.
“Brilliant today D. Didn’t need to get out of 2nd gear.”
Rice has truly become one of the best central defensive midfielders in the Premier League. Forget about caveats like his age or nationality, the Hammer is consistently a standout performer for his side, and so far this seasons, he has been immense in the claret and blue. His average of 3.5 tackles and 1.8 interceptions is properly eye-catching, as per Whoscored, and his pass completion rate of 88.2% shows a player who is both tenacious in the tackle and brilliantly efficient in possession. If he keeps this kind of form up, he can have a really special season for the Irons, and continue his climb to the very top of the English game. The only downside is that with every passing game the Hammers must fear more and more that he will become a serious target for a bigger club with greater financial capabilities. Here’s hoping he sticks around for a while longer yet.
