West Ham hand Flaherty trial

|

Arsenal have granted permission for young midfielder Stan Flaherty to undergo a trial at West Ham United, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football outlet claim on their website that the Gunners’ rising star is at the Hammers looking to secure a permanent move after being given the green light by the North London side.

Football Insider report that the 17-year-old will continue to be assessed by West Ham staff after making a goalscoring debut for the Hammers’ under-18s in the 4-1 victory over Norwich City on Saturday.

Flaherty is currently in his final year of the scholarship contract he signed at the Emirates Stadium at the beginning of 2018.

OPINION

Should Flaherty continue his trial in the same form he was in during the under 18s clash with Norwich then West Ham will most likely be impressed with his impact. The rising star midfield man scored on his debut and couldn’t have played much better when wanting to make an impression. The 17-year-old is hoping to secure a permanent deal during his trial and the best way to do that is to be involved in goals. As an attacking midfielder, the Hammers will have been looking for Flaherty to get on the ball and affect the game against the Canaries, and what better way to do that then score a goal. Having made 14 appearances for Arsenal’s under-18s squad, he will have gained valuable experience at the Gunners, something West Ham will be looking to utilise going forward. Should Flaherty continue on the same path, he will no doubt secure a contract after his trial at the London Stadium.
