West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has revealed the music he likes to listen to before a match to get him in the mood.
The starlet has become an ever-present for both club and country in recent times, and he has lifted the lid on the tunes that get him going in the build up to a match.
Speaking to Match of the Day X, when asked about his prematch playlist, he said: “The American rap lot. Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Gunna – probably that.
“It gets me in the mood. I must know it word for word.”
OPINION
Whatever Rice is listening to, he needs to keep those records spinning, because they’re clearly doing a great job of getting him in the mood. The youngster has started this season in much the same form that he finished the last, and his presence in the centre of the park for West Ham looks just as vital as ever. Already this term he is averaging 3.5 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per match, as per Whoscored, and there are few players as adept as him when it comes to breaking up play and getting his side moving in the other direction. It can be easy to forget that he is still only 20, and when you consider his age, plus the talent he is already showing, there is no reason to believe that he can’t kick on and become one of the very best in his position in European football. Here’s hoping that he reaches that kind of level while he is still wearing claret and blue.
