Mark Noble has revealed his admiration for West Ham teammate Felipe Anderson, calling the Brazilian a “really special” player.

Anderson has started the season in fine form for the Hammers, and his skipper, who himself has only recently returned to the side after an injury absence, has been quick to sing his praises.

Speaking to the Hammers’ official website, he said: “That’s why you pay the big bucks for these sorts of players!

“Everyone loves the skills and the running, but it’s not just that – his work-rate off the ball, getting back and tackling, is fantastic.

“He’s a really special player, and I’m hoping we can keep him fit and playing like that for the rest of the season.”

OPINION

On his day, Anderson is probably West Ham’s best players and while he may have endured a pretty slow start to the season, hindered by a rampant Manchester City side and a dead leg, he looks to be getting back to the kind of form that makes him such an irresistible force on his day. In his three Premier League appearances so far this term he has averaged 2.3 shots on goal, two key passes, and 3.7 successful dribbles, as per Whoscored, and when you consider how lacklustre he was on the opening weekend, it should give you a pretty good idea of how well he has played in the games since to drag those numbers up. Keeping him fit will be vital to the Hammers, but if they can do that, then it will be mouthwatering to see what he can do alongside Manuel Lanzini and Sebastien Haller.
