“I can confirm that Javier Hernandez’s transfer to Spanish La Liga club Sevilla has been completed for an undisclosed fee.

OPINION
Getting rid of Hernandez seems like a fairly smart move from the Irons. The Mexican has never really hit full stride in east London, and his record of 16 Premier League goals over two full seasons and the start of this one leaves a little to be desired. When you also factor in that he averaged just 0.2 key passes and 0.5 successful dribbles per game in the league last season, as per Whoscored, it becomes abundantly clear that the 31-year-old contributes little to a side but his predatory instinct, and when that isn’t firing, then you have to question his worth at the top level. His wage of £140,000-a-week [Spotrac] seems excessive for a player who has fallen well down the pecking order for the Irons, and freeing up that kind of money will be a shrewd piece of business. The only worry is that Manuel Pellegrini has very little cover should injury hit his frontline, but if Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti can stay fit, this deal makes a lot of sense.
