Aaron Cresswell claimed that West Ham teammate Manuel Lanzini is one of the best players he has ever played with.

The Hammers left-back revealed that he views the Argentinian playmaker as the second-best player he had ever played alongside, with Dimitri Payet being the best, during an interview on West Ham’s official YouTube channel.

“That’s who I was going to say, Lanzini,” said the defender.

In the video, Mark Noble and Cresswell’s friendship is being tested and the Hammers captain had to guess who the left-back ranks as being the best players he has played with.

The Hammers captain correctly guessed Payet and Lanzini as being among the best players Cresswell had played with.

OPINION

Given that Noble didn’t waste time working out that Cresswell would consider Lanzini and Payet as being the best players he had worked with, it’s a testament to how talented both are. Payet racked up 23 assists and 15 goals across the 60 appearances he made for the Hammers. So there’s no denying that the 32-year-old attacking midfielder was a special talent during his Hammers stint, he even finished the club’s joint top-scorer in the league in the 2015/16 season (Source: Premier League), but it’s hard to speak too highly of him. After all the attacking midfielder left the Hammers under a bit of a storm in January 2017. The Hammers’ official statement, which is still on the club’s website, shows how bitter his exit was as it directly implies that the club were forced to sell him as he no longer wanted to play for the club. So hopefully Lanzini’s spell at the Hammers doesn’t go the same way as Payet’s. The 26-year-old has played 110 times for the Hammers so far, scoring 21 goals and assisting 17 in the process, and it would be nice if he managed to rack up many more appearances in the years to come.
