Manuel Pellegrini is predicted to ring the changes to his starting line-up ahead of West Ham’s Carabao Cup clash against Newport County at Rodney Parade on Tuesday night.

As the Irons are playing against lower-league opposition, Pellegrini could opt to give several fringe players and youngsters the chance to impress so that he can rest those who played 90 minutes on Saturday in the 3-1 win against Watford.

Roberto, Goncalo Cardoso, Conor Coventry and Albian Ajeti could all be handed their full debuts in the trip to South Wales.

Cardoso, 18, signed for the Hammers from Boavista in the summer and could be handed a debut at centre-back while midfielder Coventry, 19, is reportedly set to play a role against the League Two club [Football Insider].

Roberto is also likely to be handed a chance so that Lukasz Fabianski can be given the night off and the Spanish goalkeeper could start behind a back-four of Pablo Zabaleta, Fabian Balbuena, Cardoso on Aaron Cresswell.

Carlos Sanchez is predicted to partner Coventry in the central midfield roles while Andriy Yarmolenko, Pablo Fornals and Roberto Snodgrass could start in the attacking midfield positions.

Ajeti might get the nod to start up front and earn his first appearance in a West Ham shirt so that Sebastien Haller can be rested with the clash against Norwich at the London Stadium coming up on Saturday.
