OPINION

West Ham fans will tell you that they have no luck with injuries, and if the beginning of this season is anything to go by, they might have a point. The Hammers have only played one game in the Premier League, but are already without skipper Mark Noble, and could be without influential attacking duo Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson for their trip to face Brighton on Saturday, as revealed by manager Manuel Pellegrini. That would be a real blow ahead of a match that the Hammers will no doubt have pencilled in as very winnable. Haller’s absence in particular could cause problems. Pellegrini has both Javier Hernandez and new boy Albian Ajeti to turn to as back ups, but it’s hard to see him throwing the Swiss in at the deep end like that, and that means he will probably look to Chicharito. It’s fair to say that It’s difficult to imagine two strikers with more disparate styles of play than the little Mexican and Haller. The Frenchman put in a decent shift against Manchester City in a difficult environment, winning two aerial duels, completing 88.6% of his passes, and not getting dispossessed once, as per Whoscored. Hernandez will offer only a fraction of those talents, and the change up in style could really hamper the Hammers’ preparation for this one.
