Reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee on PhoenixFM [07:42pm] on Wednesday night that a deal for Stuttgart defensive midfielder Santiago Ascacibar is unlikely to happen before 5pm on Thursday and understandably, there are a lot of unhappy Hammers on Twitter. Ascacibar, 22, is an Argentina international who was one of the most impressive defensive midfielders in the Bundesliga last season even though Stuttgart were relegated from the German top-flight. As Stuttgart went down last term, there was surely a good chance of West Ham making a bargain swoop for the Argentine. ExWHUemployee has reported that Ascacibar is someone who the Irons have been interested in, but a deal in this transfer window, at least, is not on the cards. It is a shame because there’s a good chance other clubs will start to become interest in him as January gets closer. Hopefully West Ham can afford a move by then and can appease these frustrated supporters.

It's a huge mistake if we don't recruit a CM with bite, energy & pace. Yes if they sign the young striker that's a good signing but before the window opened we needed a DCM/CM partner for Rice, LB, STx2 only the ST situation sorted, that will unfortunately hold us back as a side.
