Holland not involved v Newport

Cup competitions can usually be used as an opportunity for clubs to utilise their youngsters, with West Ham United having a number of players ready to breakthrough.

The Hammers travel to Wales on Tuesday night to face Newport County in the second round of the Carabao Cup, and Manuel Pellegrini could use it as a chance to introduce a couple of fresh faces.

With Football.London journalist Sam Inkersole reporting on a live blog that the West Ham board are desperate for a cup run this season, the Chilean will remember last season’s FA Cup humiliation to Wimbledon.

Football Insider recently reported that Pellegrini had blocked a loan-exit for exciting talent Nathan Holland, with the reputable outlet suggesting that he was set for his competitive first-team debut against Newport.

Holland has been in great form for the club’s under-23’s in recent campaigns, being involved in 10 goals in 11 appearances last season – providing eight assists from out wide.

That doesn’t appear to be the case now, with reliable club source, ExWHUemployee, reporting on his personal Twitter account that the 21-year-old hasn’t travelled to Rodney Parade for the game on Tuesday.

ExWHUemployee also reported on Tuesday afternoon that Pellegrini has made a number of changes, but will still name a senior side for the clash with the League Two side.

With Holland not having travelled with the squad, West Ham and Pellegrini must sanction a loan exit for the winger, with the young prospect more than capable of making an impact in senior football.

Football Insider reported that a number of Championship and League One clubs are interested in taking the winger temporarily this season.

With the youngster not set to feature against Newport now, Pellegrini and West Ham must sanction a loan-exit for the 21-year-old so he can continue his progress elsewhere.
