Derby County have confirmed the signing of Jahmal Hector-Ingram after the striker announced his exit from West Ham on Sunday night.
Hector-Ingram, 20, had been on the books of the London club since he was six-years-old but has now been snapped up by Derby after spending part of the pre-season on trial with the Championship club.
Derby have announced via their official website that Hector-Ingram has joined their Under-23s side after impressing in his trial.
It is not a surprise to see Derby sign Hector-Ingram after seeing how well he did on trial with the East Midlands outift. The 20-year-old striker scored an impressive five goals in six games for the Rams’ Under-23s in pre-season, so it would have been a strange decision if they went against signing him after that run of form. Hector-Ingram is yet to make his senior debut in football but Derby County fans should be encouraged by the fact that a lot of West Ham fans on Twitter were left gutted after the young forward announced his exit from the club at the weekend. It may be a while before he is considered to play in Derby’s first-team squad but the Rams do offer a lot of opportunities for younger players and there could be a chance for him in a cup game or something as the season pans out.
