West Ham keen on Radoja

|

West Ham are interested in signing Serbian international Nemanja Radoja, according to Team Talk.

The 26-year-old is available on a free transfer having parted company with Celta Vigo earlier this summer, and is understood to be keen on a move to England.

The 6’1″ colossus [Transfermarkt] is also said to be catching the eye of Brighton and Championship side Leeds United.

OPINION

On the face of it, this seems like a good deal for the Hammers. Radoja is an experienced midfielder who has played in an elite European league for some time, and who would provide cover in a position that looks somewhat understaffed at the moment. The 26-year-old didn’t feature last year due to injury, but in 2016/17, he managed an average of 2.3 tackles per match, and a pass completion rate of 86.6% form an average of 42.3 balls, as per Whoscored. The only real issue, and it’s a hefty one, is that as of right now, the Hammers couldn’t sign him. Although he is a free agent, the Irons have already filled their quote for non-homegrown player registrations for the season. If they were able to shift somebody on before the end of the continental transfer window then maybe it would be a goer, but at the moment, file this under tenuous at best.
