West Ham could go until deadline day

West Ham could see their pursuit of new players go right the way down to deadline day this transfer window, according to reliable source ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers have already bought Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals as outfield reinforcements but are understood to still be on the lookout for recruits, as reported by Football.London.

And Ex believes that it could take them a while to get any prospective deals wrapped up.

When asked if any of the Irons targets could drag on until deadline day, he wrote on his personal Twitter account: “I reckon it could do.”

This is a bit of a mixed bag in truth. On the one hand, the fact that the Hammers are still in the hunt for new players should give fans lots of encouragement. On the other, the fact that somebody like Ex believes that it could rumble on until the 11th hour suggests that things could be a bit touch and go for the Hammers. The last thing anybody associated with the club wants is to push hard for a new signing and come up short, and as soon as those dreaded words “deadline day” start getting bandied about, you can feel a noticeable ramping up in the desperation of a club. The last knockings of the window are always a bit of a jungle, and the Irons will have to make sure that they have enough in the tank to land their man, but also resist the temptation to pay over the odds for a target. You would fancy them to bring in defensive midfield cover since Pedro Obiang left for Italy, but in today’s market, even the most unglamorous of players can cost a king’s ransom.
