The agent of West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini has jetted into London to conclude talks over the Argentine’s new contract with the club, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the player’s representative is now in the capital, with further talks expected to conclude an extension for the 26-year-old.

Lanzini’s new deal is likely to vault him into the top pay bracket at the London Stadium, with Claret & Hugh’s report claiming that wages of around £100,000-per-week are to be expected.

A club source told the website that the Hammers are hopeful of finalising the extension in the next few days.

OPINION

This news will surely be music to the West Ham fans’ ears. Clearly this deal, which has been on the docket for several months now, is nearing completion. That’s tremendous news for the Hammers faithful, because there were a few hairy moments earlier this summer where it looked like the Argentine may have been slightly unsettled at the club. However, it seems that everything is A-OK again, and he now appears poised to commit his future to Manuel Pellegrini’s side. We’ve seen in the opening weeks of the season just how important Lanzini is to the Irons, and so the news that he is ready to sign an extension is fantastic for everyone associated with the club. He’s got two assists in three Premier League games so far this season, shining amidst a largely indifferent start from Pellegrini’s team. There’s no doubting that Lanzini deserves the big bucks that he is likely going to get, here. He is arguably the Hammers’ most important player and deserves to be paid like it.
