Haller and Anderson set to return v Watford

West Ham United attacking pair Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson are both expected to return for the match against Watford, according to Claret and Hugh.

The dedicated Hammers website claim that the Hammers’ duo were always going to miss Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at Brighton after both picking up dead legs in their opening day thrashing by Manchester City.

Claret and Hugh reported that Haller suffered a badly swollen knee from the incident, but hopes are high that both he and Anderson will play some part in the Watford game.

Both players were never in the frame to feature against Brighton, with fellow forward Javier Hernandez ensuring his side took a share of the points.

This will be a massive piece of news for West Ham, who struggled to create as many chances as Brighton did in their draw. At times, Hernandez was isolated when leading the line, and there was a big amount of responsibility laying on the shoulders of Manuel Lanzini to create things as new signing Pablo Fornals adjusted to life in the Premier League. Haller is a much more physical option for Pellegrini to choose from, and that is something that his fellow attacking players could benefit from against Watford. The Hammers have struggled to keep the ball in the opposition’s final third in their opening two games, and if Haller can dominate Watford’s defence in the next game then there will be much more opportunity for players such as Fornals and Anderson to capitalise in and around the box and highlight their talents. With two back to the wall performances so far, Pellegrini will be eager to unleash his side on Watford, who have yet to win a single game this season.
