COMMENTARY

Some West Ham fans shared they wanted their club to sign attacker Danny Welbeck in order to boost Manuel Pellegrini’s forward options. West Ham fan account West Ham_Central asked whether the Hammers should sign the 28-year-old forward, and some supporters shared they were open to the idea of signing him. One Hammers fan claimed that if West Ham signed Welbeck he wouldn’t be their main forward but if his fitness could be managed properly then he could do a job for the club, while another described the attacker as being a great bench player so his previous dubious injury record shouldn’t be held against him. The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by Arsenal in the summer, and you feel his injury record played a part in him ending up without a club. Welbeck has had four injuries during his career that have kept him on the sidelines for over a 100 days, and spent the majority of his 2018/19 campaign in the medical room due to an ankle injury (Source: Transfmarkt). However considering Welbeck scored five goals in 14 outings last season, impressively averaging a goal every 121 minutes (Source: BBC), before getting injured then it’s easy to see why the Hammers could benefit from him.
