Some West Ham fans were torn on social media after hearing that Jordan Hugill may be heading out of the club to join Preston North End. Football Insider reported on Monday that the Championship club were in advanced talks over buying the 27-year-old Hammers forward, and there was a growing sense that a deal could be agreed. Given that Hugill has only featured three times for the London club since joining from Preston in January 2018, with those outings only totalling 22 minutes, as per Transfermarkt, some Hammers supporters didn’t know how to handle the forward going. Some were torn as the 27-year-old never really got a chance, with one saying his time had been bizarre now that he is exiting, while another harshly deemed him a waste of space and wanted him gone as soon as possible. When you consider that Manuel Pellegrini has already got rid of attacker Lucas Perez, Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic this summer, the Hammers boss must really not rate Hugill to not even potentially give him a chance in pre-season. Then again Hugill only managed a goal every 293 minutes, as per BBC Sport, when featuring for Championship side Middlesbrough while on loan with them last season, so perhaps he is sadly just not cut out to be considered to feature in the Premier League.
