West Ham to wrap up Haller deal

|

West Ham are set to wrap up a £36 million deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller after “rapid talks” with the German club, according to the Daily Mail.

It is understood that the Hammers only registered their interest in the 25-year-old on Wednesday, but that they are on the cusp of bringing him in on a four year contract.

The report suggests that a deal for the front man will be finalised in the coming days, with the Irons confident that their hunt for a front man has come to an end.

OPINION

This would be a brilliant signing for West Ham. The club clearly needs a s striker, and that need has only been exacerbated since the departure of Marko Arnautovic to China. On the face of it, Haller ticks a lot of boxes for the Hammers. At 6’3″ [Transfermarkt], he possesses a natural physicality that would make him an ideal addition to the Premier League, while his average of 6.9 aerial dues won per match last season shows that he knows how to use his size too [Whoscored]. More than that, however, Haller is a tidy and accomplished footballer. Of the 15 goals he hit last season in Germany, 11 came from his right boot, while just two were headers [Whoscored]. Evidently, Haller is a very useful target man, but excitingly, he is so much more than that as well. Here’s hoping that he playing in claret and blue next season.
