West Ham offering Gomez double

|

West Ham are offering Maxi Gomez double what he will be given at Valencia, according to ExWHUemployee.

The 6’1″ colossus [Transfermarkt] looks set to leave Celta Vigo, with Valencia looking like the most likely destination for him, as reported by Marca.

But the Hammers are understood to still be working on bringing him to east London, as reported by Sky Sports News.

And Ex has claimed that they are going all out to land their man.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “We are offering almost double what Gomez will get at Valencia”.

OPINION

Gomez would be a fantastic signing for the Hammers, and at this stage, they are doing the right thing by going all out to land him. The 22-year-old is an old school, bruising centre forward with a wealth of potential, and he could well go on to become a top, top player. The signs are that he is well on his way to that kind of mantle, and with 2.2 shots per game, plus 3.8 aerial duals won, he is clearly a real handful [Whoscored]. The Hammers need a striker, perhaps even two, and at this stage, if they have serious ambitions about kicking on and becoming a proper European challenging side, then they must start investing in the areas that need strengthening. Gomez would not come cheap, but he would be an investment, and in a couple of years’ time, the Irons could look back on a his capture, should they land him, as one of the wisest decisions they have made in recent times.
